Wash and season the meat with onions, 1 stock cube, and a teaspoon of salt. Add half cup of water and set on heat.
Once the meat is soft, (10 minutes for chicken), add the washed dried fish and let them cook for another 10-15 minutes.
Remove the meat and fish from the pot leaving just the stock as you can see below. Add 1 cup of water.
Allow it to cool for 2 minutes. Add and stir the kuka (powdered baobab leaves).
Continue stirring while you add more until the soup begins to thicken.
You will need about 1 cup of kuka for this soup.
Stir to combine completely, if this is difficult, you can transfer to your blender and pulse a couple of times. You want it smooth and dissolved like this.
Add ground crayfish and the ground scotch bonnet peppers. Add the iru (locust beans).
Stir the soup properly and allow to simmer on medium heat for 3-5 minutes. That is how to make this wonderful soup from Northern Nigeria.
